Celebrating self-expression is in ’47’s DNA, and music is one of the greatest avenues for it. As regulars of the Boston Calling Music Festival, every year we look forward to meeting artists and fans in our own backyard for one of the best gatherings of the year. This excitement led us to make some new friends already –– honorary Bostonians from Philly –– The Menzingers.
Boston and Philadelphia may partake in the occasional *banter* but these cities have plenty in common: rich US history, gritty work ethic, serious sports fandom from communities that are filled with pride and camaraderie.
Speaking of brotherly love –– hometown buddies Tom, Joe, Greg and Eric from Scranton, PA found a spot in Philly’s notable indie-punk scene, doing what they love and sharing it with the world. Boston, a frequent stop on tours, developed quite the affinity for them, leading to an inevitable, mutual affinity for Boston (and who could blame ’em?).
Getting their big break at a festival in Gainesville, Florida — that musical setting has always created a special sentiment to the band. So as they take that familiar trip down I-84, we can’t wait to welcome them to one of their biggest stages yet. Meet The Menzingers:
We’re stoked to see the energy that artists like The Menzingers bring to Boston Calling this year. Make sure you stay tuned to our social channels throughout the festival for peeks backstage and fun in our ’47 Fan Cave.
Stop by the ’47 Fan Cave at the right time, and you may even get a chance to meet our new friends too and take some exclusive festival memorabilia.
